Lexi is cursed with a dark secret. Each day she goes to school like a normal teenager, and each night she must swim, or the pain will be unbearable. She is a siren - a deadly mermaid destined to lure men to their watery deaths. After a terrible tragedy, Lexi shut herself off from the world, vowing to protect the ones she loves. But she soon finds herself caught between a new boy at school who may have the power to melt her icy exterior, and a handsome water spirit who says he can break Lexi's curse if she gives up everything else. Lexi is faced with the hardest decision she's ever had to make: the life she's always longed for - or the love she can't live without?
This book is said to be for young adults and from what I hear, it's the first in a two part series.
Lakela's Thoughts: This was a quick read for me, and I liked how the mermaid was different than most mermaid stories. I gave this book 5 bookmarks.
This is the second time I've heard a positive review of this book, and it sounds like a read I'd enjoy. I'm going to have to put this on my wishlist! Thanks for the rec and review.
ReplyDeleteNo prob.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great review. I wish more people wrote like this - both the positive and negatives - and about the kind of things I want to know before I hand a book over to one of my kids. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great review! It sounds fantastic with the external conflicts guaranteed for true internal conflicts. <3

Can Alex save Winter from the darkness that hunts her?
YA Paranormal Romance, Darkspell coming fall of 2011!
Great review! I wondered about this book because I've been seeing it everywhere!
ReplyDeleteYou also have a lovely blog! Thank you for the follow! :D
Oh cool! I like the dark twist on mermaids... makes them not so foo-foo. I'd definitely read this!
ReplyDeleteNice review! And this sounds like one I'll have to read. Love mermaids anyway, though it'll be different if they don't have tails! :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this story sounds....weird. I don't know about sirens. But that's just me. Thanks for the review.
